Resource Efficiency

From a business sustainability perspective a RESOURCE can be considered as anything that is used, consumed or transformed within a business process. Resource Efficiency is therefore the approach to manage all resources involved with the business more effectively to meet business outcomes.


Traditionally, business which tends to focus on direct operational activities such as the "3Ms" - Manpower (labour productivity), Machines (equipment utilisation), Materials (waste minimisation).


However, with a growing business focus on environmental performance, this term has expanded to cover other intrinsic elements such as energy and water, as well as the avoidance of waste and potentially harmful materials.


The BSA together with its partners, can guide your business to become more effective in the management of a wide variety of resources from Lean in Practice programs run by the universities, to Sustainable Design and Life Cycle Thinking delivered through Innovate SA.
