Key Issue
Growing a global business
With the local and international gaming and ICT market a highly competitive arena, it is vital for businesses to keep their finger on the pulse.
For Ballistic Media CEO Andrew Plumer, being able to network with industry leaders, especially in the United States where their client base is the strongest, was a necessity for the continued success of the business.
“Trading as an international business, the US dollar is our primary currency. This means we need to be aware of exchange rates and the effects that can have on our finances,” he explained.
“We also need to be aware of international market trends and developments, especially in the United States.”
Key Outcomes
Business training and mentoring
With the world renowned San Francisco Game Developers Conference (GDC) held annually in March, Ballistic Media were invited to attend the ‘Mecca’ of the gaming world. For Andrew and the team, having a representative at the GDC allowed them to build business contacts and source current trends in the ever changing industry.
Andrew and several team members have also undertaken various entrepreneurial training courses including Strategic Sales and Marketing, One Page Plan, Project Management and Leadership offered through Innovate SA.
Andrew identified that having access to a local source of knowledge as well as training and mentoring from some of the top consultants in South Australia had definitely had a positive impact on helping to grow his business.
He also found the opportunity to share information with other companies attending the courses facing the same challenges to be an invaluable experience.
Feedback
“Having a presence at the GDC this year has really helped ensure we have the most up to date information on our industry.”
“We have also been able to take away valuable lessons from the Strategic Sales and Marketing, One Page Plan, Project Management and Leadership courses offered by Innovate SA.”
