    David Simmons

    Chairman

    • With over 16 years at the helm of Hills Industries as the former Managing Director, David Simmons has been an integral part of the manufacturing industry both in Australia and overseas. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge in the business realm and is an asset to the team and Board at Innovate SA.
    • After graduating from what is now the University of Adelaide in 1980 with a Bachelor of Arts in Accountancy, David has been the Chairman of several high profile Boards including Korvest, Fielders Australia Pty Ltd and Orrcon Pty Ltd. David was a member of the South Australian Economic Development Board for seven years from 2002 until 2008.
    • After retiring from Hills Industries, David is now focusing on his philanthropic interests.

    Anthony (Tony) Evans

    Australian Manufacturing Workers Union

    • As a Research Officer for the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union in South Australia, Tony Evans adds a unique skill set to the Innovate SA Board.
    • With a background in heavy manufacturing and auto components, combined with extensive trade union experience in manufacturing industry policy development, Tony has a wealth of experience and knowledge in the field. 
    • Tony has represented the ACTU on the Australian Manufacturing Council and was a member of the Manufacturing Consultative Council Steering Committee. 

    Anthony Kittel

    CEO & Managing Director of REDARC Electronics

    • As CEO and Managing Director of Redarc Electronics, Anthony Kittel and his wife Michele bought the company in 1997 and now employ a staff of 60 at their Lonsdale premises. Redarc manufactures power conversion products including custom power supplies and battery charging modules for Truck manufacturers, National Automotive Electrical Wholesalers as well as the communications, mining, agricultural and marine industries.
    • Redarc's is expected to double its turnover in the next five years to almost $20m.  A key driver of this is the implementation of a major process improvement project including the construction of a $5m innovation centre in Lonsdale South Australia. 
    • Anthony holds an MBA and a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and is also a member of the Australian Industry Group Technology Industry Development Council.

    Professor Caroline McMillen

    Pro Vice-Chancellor & Vice President, Research & Innovation University of SA

    • Professor Caroline McMillen is the Pro Vice Chancellor and Vice President, Research and Innovation at the University of South Australia. Her portfolio encompasses strategic oversight of the University's research, research education and training and innovation activities. 
    • Professor McMillen is also Director of the Research Centre for the Early Origins of Adult Health where she heads a research team of around 15 staff and students. She is currently a lead investigator on an NHMRC Program Grant on The Early Origins of Adult Disease and also recently attracted funding from the ARC for her work on the epigenetic regulation of foetal development. 
    • During the past five years, Professor McMillen's research group has published a series of studies in the perinatology field.   Professor McMillen was elected as a Member of the US Perinatal Research Society in 1999 and in 2002 she served as the Basic Science Member on the Council of this US Society.
    • In 2002 she Chaired the International Development Section of the Endocrinology, Reproduction and Development Commission for the International Union of Physiological Societies.
